#MyFirstGive
Thank you for accessing the resources for First Give – Helping from Home!
First Give is a charity that partners with schools across England and Wales to engage young people in social action to support their local community.
In March 2020 we launched Helping from Home to provide resources for schools, parents and carers to encourage students to do something to make the lives of others better. As we move into a new lockdown we are relaunching this programme. It is designed with students from Year 7 through to Year 12 in mind.
First Give – Helping from Home is an easy to follow, fully resourced three lesson programme. Students will:
- Learn about social issues
- Reflect on who is responsible for tackling these issues
- Plan and carry out social action from home
- Share their social action with us and the world online, using #MyFirstGive
We want to celebrate the efforts of young people across the country. So, each month we will choose our favourite pieces of social action and the winners will receive a First Give grant of £1,000 for the charities of their choice!
Students can participate as part of a programme of lessons delivered remotely by teachers, at home with parents/carers or as individuals.
Each lesson takes the form of an editable PDF file. Students and learners will be able to type directly onto the document when opened in Adobe PDF reader (recommended) or by opening the document on their internet browser. They can save their edited worksheet and send to their teacher or upload to Google Classroom or Microsoft Teams if needed.
Each lesson is also supported with a PowerPoint for teachers delivering the lessons remotely online.
